Student Leadership – Volume III

Michael Allen (he/him) is a 3L at the University of Michigan Law School and is the third Editor-in-Chief of the Michigan Journal of Law and Society. Outside of school and journal work, he enjoys being active through rock climbing, weightlifting, disc golfing, pick-up basketball, and hiking.


Matt Twargoski is a 3L at the University of Michigan Law School from Sarasota, Florida. Outside of school, he enjoys fishing and learning foreign languages.

Megan serves as MJLS’s Managing Editor.


Nina Leeds (she/her) is a 3L at the University of Michigan Law School. Nina graduated from Cornell University in 2019 with a B.S. in Industrial and Labor Relations. She worked as a labor and employment paralegal in NYC prior to law school, spent her 1L summer as a Peggy Browning Fellow with NYSUT, and her 2L summer at a firm in NYC. Nina enjoys sketch comedy shows, podcasts, and spending time with her rescue dog, Maizey.

Nina is MJLS’s Managing Production Editor.


Jason Kenny is a 3L at the University of Michigan Law School. Jason was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2019 with a B.A. in Government. After law school, Jason will be joining Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher’s Dallas office as an associate. Outside of school, Jason enjoys playing golf, poker, and pick-up basketball.

T.J. Reed (he/him) is a 3L at the University of Michigan Law school from South Jersey. He has interned with the Allegheny County Public Defender in Pittsburgh and Brooklyn Defender Services, and will pursue a career in public defense after finishing at Michigan. Before attending law school, he worked with AmeriCorps in Helena, MT.

T.J. serves as a Senior Associate Editor.


Michael Brier is a second-year in the University of Michigan Department of American Culture. Michael studies the history of anti-discrimination reform in the US, with a specific focus on the recent incorporation of “colorblind” algorithmic tools in the US criminal justice system. In his free time, Michael likes playing music.

Margot Witte (they/them) is a PhD candidate in Philosophy at the the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Their work on topics in ethics and epistemology; their current projects concern interpersonal ethics, intimacy, and epistemic justice. They received their B.A. magna cum laude from Brown University in 2019 and joined the University of Michigan in 2021, after working as a bread baker for two years.

Margot is MJLS’s Content Editor for Philosophy.


Saifullah Nasar is a 4th year PhD Student at the University of Michigan anthropology department. His research on oil smuggling economy on the Iran-Pakistan borderlands looks at the life of law and illegality and how people order their world in conditions of pervasive mistrust and illegality within a compromised regulatory state. He enjoys long walks after rain, hiking, and reading poetry.

Saifullah serves as MJLS’s Content Editor for Anthropology.

Author
